Dance Crazy 2011

26th June @ Wycombe Swan Theatre

WOW What a show........I have received the most amazing feedback about Dance Crazy, I think it was possibly the best one yet!! All the teaching staff are extremely proud of everyone, it’s fantastic to see all that hard work coming together. If you would like to read some of the feedback we have received please view our facebook page. I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person that helped make the day such a special & memorable experience for everyone involved. DVD’s are still available to order, please hand your order form to Louise or Carla (we have spares if you have misplaced it over the summer!) Or you can order direct from the Butterflies Media website. I’m sure many of you have already seen Steph Sharp’s stunning photography from the show. If you have not, Steph spent the whole day at the theatre with us, there are 3 albums, the rehearsal, backstage & performance (taken during 6.30pm) as Steph watched the 2pm. You can view & purchase these if you wish from www.photoboxgallery.com/sharpbynature password: crazy

Can’t wait for 2013!!

School Successes!! Good Bye & Good Luck

This is a very proud moment for the dance school, for the first time in 12 years we have three pupils leaving us to continue with their dance training. Natalie Harris, Tessa Gamble & Freya Denial are all leaving us this summer to begin full-time professional dance training for 3 years. We are extremely proud of the girls, they have become excellent role models for our younger pupils and it's always a joy to watch them perform. We will be very sorry to see them leave and will miss them as they have helped build the school's excellent reputation. We would like to wish them the very best of luck with their future training. Below you can read about the girls' time at the dance school.........

Freya Denial

I have been doing ballet, tap & modern jazz from the age of 3 but I joined this school in 2004. I have recently completed a National Diploma in Dance (two year course) at Oxford & Cherwell Valley College and gained a Distinction. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there and have experienced many different styles of dance, in September I’m going to the University of Northampton to study a degree in dance. After my three years there I will aim to gain a PGCE which will able me to teach in schools. During my seven years at Louise's school I have taken ballet, tap and modern jazz exams, competed in choreographic competitions & taken part in her shows. I have loved every minute and it will always be one of the main reasons I am continuing my study of dance. As well as performing for Louise, I am a member of the Bicester Choral and Operatic Society and have taken part in three of their stage shows as a main dancer and chorus girl. It has given me so much experience and confidence.  I am very thankful to Louise for all that she has taught me over the years, she is reason I have these opportunities ahead of me. I hope the school continues for many years to come.

Tessa Gamble

I joined the Louise Austin School of Dance in 2000 & I've loved every moment! Through Louise's school I've achieved many ISTD exams and performed in plenty of dance shows. My highlights are dancing at Her Majesty's Theatre, winning 1st prize with Jospehine Glover in the choreographic competition and assisting Louise on a Wednesday with the younger children. Dance has always had an important role in my life. I took dance at GCSE and from then moved to take a National Diploma in Dance at OCVC in Oxford. I have just completed my 2 year course there, gaining a Distinction. After a very stressful year - trying to decide where to further my education & MANY auditions I have accepted a place at Roehampton University for this September to study a degree in Dance. I would just like to let Louise know that I have thoroughly enjoyed all the years belonging to her school. It's with her help especially when I was younger, that helped me be the performer I am today. I am very sorry to be leaving such a lovely school but I'm looking forward to the next steps in my future. I'm not completely sure what I hope to do when I finish university. My passion is to be on the stage, I also love teaching so all I can say is watch this space!!

Natalie Harris

I have been at the Louise Austin School of Dance since it started in 1999 & have studied Ballet, Tap, Modern & Jazz since then. In my time at the school I've taken a number of Ballet, Tap, Modern & Jazz exams, I've performed in all 6 bi-annual shows, performed at Her Majesty's Theatre on 2 occasions, taken part in Choreographic Competitions & a number of charitable shows. In 2007 I successfully auditioned for the English Youth Ballet and performed in their version of 'Coppelia'. I've been a teaching assistant to Louise since 2003, last year Louise gave me the opportunity to teach a class on a Thursday to gain invaluable teaching experience. As well as Louise's school for the last two years I've been dancing with a contemporary dance group. I have just completed my A-level dance at Henley College and gained an 'A' grade. I have successfully auditioned for the Margaret Howard Theatre College in Hertfordshire & I'm very excited about starting there this September on a 3 year performance & teacher training course. In the future I would like to run my own dance school. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Louise's school & couldn't have asked for a better or lovelier teacher!!
